Undermining the National Children's Study: A Comment on Savitz & Ness' Commentary
Paper Number:
10.07 The National Children's Study, described in the Children's Health Act of 2000, calls for an "assessment of the physical, chemical, biological and psychosocial environmental influences on children's well-being." That cannot be done to acceptable scientific standards for selecting the sample of children using the recommendations outlined in the Commentary by David Savitz and Roberta Ness in Epidemiology (July 22, 2010). This commentary suggests alternative modifications that do meet that standard, if adjustments to the plans for the NCS are necessary to meet budget limitations.
