Terri Brady

Communication Arts Consultant and Lecturer

Terri Brady is a Lecturer and the Communication Arts Consultant at the Harris School, where she teaches "Leading Through Persuasion: The Art of Communication." She also assists in developing programming that enhances students' writing, speaking and presentation skills. Ms. Brady received a J.D. from Columbia Law School and an MPP from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government. She has studied leadership at the Kennedy School and the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business. She is also a Certified Mediator (Northwestern University).

Ms. Brady practiced law for over ten years years, most notably for Shearman & Sterling in New York. Her areas of practice expertise included securities law and commercial litigation. After leaving her Wall Street practice Ms. Brady worked on political campaigns for an Iowa Governor's race and three Illinois Congressional campaigns. She has her own consulting practice that provides communications, strategy, leadership and project management advice to individuals and organizations. Before practicing law, Ms. Brady was a consultant at the U.S. Department of Treasury, the Policy and Program Planning Office at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the U.S. International Communication Agency (Russian Area). She also served as the Director of Court Planning for the Iowa Supreme Court. While attending the Kennedy School she worked as a Research Assistant at Harvard's Russian Research Center.

Ms. Brady is a Board Member of the Plexus Institute, a nonprofit social enterprise that supports change agents in organizations and communities using concepts emerging from the new science of complexity. She is an active member of the President's Circle for the Chicago Council on Global Affairs and has traveled to India twice with the Chicago Council's President and Board.
