Frank Schell

Frank Schell is a Lecturer on South Asian affairs at the Harris School and serves on the Dean’s International Council.  He had a leadership role with the Council’s delegation to India in 2008. He is a member of the editorial board of the National Strategy Forum, which focuses on national security issues.  The Forum has submitted two recommendations on U.S. foreign policy toward Pakistan to Cabinet and other U.S. government officials in recent years.

Frank is a business strategy consultant.  In recent years he was an Independent Senior Consultant for Charles River Associates, a global consulting firm based in Boston, working with the strategy and risk management practices.

Most of his earlier career was in international corporate and institutional banking. Formerly he was Senior Vice President of the First National Bank of Chicago and its successors.  He was stationed in London and Sao Paulo, Brazil. In a previous banking affiliation, Frank was posted in Nairobi, Kenya and was also involved with banking in the Middle East and South Asia.  Industry board affiliations included the National Foreign Trade Council, and the Bankers’ Association for Foreign Trade.

Frank holds a B.A. from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.  He served in the U.S. Peace Corps in northern India. His essays on South Asia and global affairs have appeared in the Far Eastern Economic Review (Wall Street Journal Digital Network), Chicago Tribune, National Strategy Forum Review, American Spectator, and at Gateway House, the Indian Council on Global Relations.  He has language capability in Portuguese, Hindi-Urdu and French.
