The 16th meeting of the Dean’s International Council focused its attention on China’s relationship with the United States and other nations, the evolution of China’s economic model, and the dramatic social changes it has experienced over the past generation.
The opening reception and dinner at the Lan Club featured an address by Robert S. Wang, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of the United States in Beijing. The discussions and roundtables included examinations of Chinese trade policy, the future of the Chinese economy, the impact of new media and social media on Chinese politics, and China’s relationship with India.
Featured presenters included Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Ian Johnson; Fang Hui, Professor and Deputy Dean of the School of History at Shandong University; Wang Feng, Director of the Brookings-Tsinghua Center; Mary Kay Magistad, East Asia Correspondent, Public Radio International; and S. Jaishankar, Indian Ambassador to China.
