LECTURER
Chicago Harris is expanding the practical training elements of its formal curriculum and is seeking a full-time lecturer , for an initial three year renewable appointment, to teach students in the professional masters programs in three key areas: 1) policy writing and policy communication more generally, 2) policy analysis and problem solving for clients in the public, non-profit, and private sectors, and 3) the policymaking and implementation processes. This initiative seeks to build on the Harris School's traditional strengths in training students in the core social science aspects of policy analysis, implementation, and management, by enhancing opportunities for master's degree candidates to apply these skills in real-world settings and refine professional skills that will enhance their effectiveness in the policymaking and implementation arenas. RESEARCH ASSOCIATE (ASSISTANT PROFESSOR)
Chicago Harris is seeking an outstanding candidate for a full-time Research Associate (Assistant Professor) position. The successful candidate will develop an innovative research agenda to produce an integrated developmental approach to health that studies the origins and the evolution of health inequalities over the life-course and across generations, and the role played by cognition, personality, genes, and environment. We are seeking a candidate able to synthesize and extend insights from several disciplines into a unified approach, in order to build up a comprehensive framework for understanding health disparities that incorporates socioeconomic determinants, genetic inheritance, epigenetic mechanisms, biological mechanisms, policy interventions, and behavioral responses. Expertise in latent variables modeling applied to economic problems is strongly preferred. Applicants are required to possess a Ph.D. in economics and have postdoctoral research experience in the subject area. The successful candidate must be able to both work under supervision and to design and conduct research independently. The candidate must be able to supervise graduate students and is expected to present the work both at national and international conferences. Preference will be given to those with proven experience of leading successfully interdisciplinary collaborations and with a record of grant writing for large projects.
