Urban Policy Reading Group
The urban policy reading group is a not-for-credit opportunity for Harris School students to read and discuss recent literature addressing urban issues. Modeled after the popular Greenberg Seminars at the University of Chicago Law School, students read one book per quarter and discuss it with other students and faculty over snacks and drinks at Jens Ludwig’s Hyde Park home. In 2009-10, the group read D. Bradford Hunt’s “Blueprint for Disaster” (fall quarter) and Alex Kotlowitz’s “There Are No Children Here” (winter quarter).
The urban policy reading group is led by Jens Ludwig, McCormick Foundation Professor of Social Service Administration, Law, and Public Policy in the School of Social Service Administration and the Harris School; and Kate Cagney, Senior Fellow and Director of the Population Research Center.
