“Constitutional Design and the Scope of Authority”

Several faculty members affiliated with the Center for Policy Entrepreneurship participated in the Becker Friedman Institute's conference on “Constitutional Design and the Scope of Authority.” The conference's aim was to study how different constitutional structures impact policy outcomes, and it focused on topics related to federalism, the separation of powers, and checks and balances in governmental institutions. In particular, attendees examined the trade off between unified and divided authority, as well as the multitask problems created by unified authority.
