Career Management & Skills Development

The CDO offers a range of resources to help students develop effective job search and career management skills. In addition to meeting with individuals one-on-one, CDO counselors and others lead workshops which offer participants the chance to develop and practice skills, such as successful case-based or behavioral interviewing strategies, how to negotiate starting salaries and raises, and how to communicate strengths in an “elevator pitch.” The CDO also offers a library of targeted training guides on these topics.

Action items

• Meet with a CDO counselor for resume review, career advising, or interview preparation.
• Attend skill development workshops and CDO speaker events.  Check the CDO calendar regularly, and watch your email for the biweekly newsletter from the CDO as well as automatic opportunity notifications from HarrisLink.
