Recruiting Policies

The Chicago Harris Career Development Office looks forward to partnering with you to meet all your on-campus recruiting needs. On Campus recruiting take place Monday-Friday, from September through May.

The Process

Employment opportunities are announced through HarrisLink, our online job bank and recruiting system. While employers can forward job descriptions to the Career Development Office (CDO), we do encourage all organizations to create a personal HarrisLink account to post positions, view student resumes, and receive notifications of ongoing events and new sevices provided by the CDO.

All Chicago Harris students and graduates have access to view employment opportunities, information sessions, and on-campus recruiting events through this database. Application materials generally include a resume and cover letter but other materials, such as a writing sample and transcripts, can also be required. Interested candidates submit required materials by deadline date and employers will receive a candidate packet electronically. Once application materials are received, the employer can select candidates and request dates for interviews.  All interview schedules must close at least three business days in advance of interview dates.

The Career Development Office offers pre-select and open schedules:

Pre-Select Schedules:
After reviewing job descriptions, interested students submit resumes to HarrisLink.  Employers then have the ability to "pre-select" students for interviews, and interviews may be held on-campus or at the employer's office. We encourage employers to select primary, as well as alternate, interview candidates.

Open Schedules:
After reviewing the position description, students register for interviews on a first-come, first-served basis. Employers receive student application materials through HarrisLink.

Interview

Employers can choose to schedule interviews the day of an information session or at a later time. Interview schedules can accommodate up to 10 candidates with a start time of 8:00a.m. and end time of 5:00p.m. This schedule provides the employer two 15-minute breaks and an hour for lunch. Interview schedules can also be customized to fit employers’ needs. Please contact Jandi Kelly at jandi@uchicago.edu or 773.702.5063 for assistance.

Post-Interview Communication

The Career Development Office compiles information regarding employer offers for our students and alumni. This information is used for reporting purposes only and will not be personally identifiable. Please provide the following information to our office: employee name, student name, position title, location, and annual salary/internship stipend. We also appreciate receiving feedback about our students throughout the interview process.
