International Security and Veterans Initiatives Group
The Harris International Security and Veterans Initiatives Group (ISAVI) is a group of military veteran and non-veterans students at Harris that promotes discussion of international security domestic veterans issues. We do this by facilitating research in these areas, hosting academic discussions and informal conversations, and facilitating veterans' transition to a civilian career. Past and planned events include:
- Academics
- Membership participation in NATO TV's Road to Chicago Series.
- NATO policy discussion with the Committee on International Affairs and Public Policy (CIAPP).
- Communicating with leaders on veterans issues at the University and the City to further academic research into this areas.
- Programs
- December wreath laying at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Joliet, IL with Wreaths Across America.
- Athletic participation in fund raisers for the Travis Manion Foundation and the Pat Tillman Foundation.
- Quarterly drink 'n learn discussion periods.
- Career
- Fall resume review.
- Harris veteran alumni database build.
- Second-year mentorship program for first-year students.
