Proud Mexican and a realistic idealist. Raised in the small state of Aguascalientes, I moved to Mexico City for my undergraduate studies. I’ve also spent a few years in Canada, Chile, France, Mexico, Spain and the United States. Experiencing the living standards, economic models, political structures, cultural diversity and social structures in these countries is what got me interested in foreign policy and social development. This is one of the reasons why I came to Harris: the international diversity of its student body. Also, Harris offers a golden combination of advanced technical skills and a perfect environment for developing less numerical skills that are also crucial to the policy process, such as communication, negotiation and public relations. Do not hesitate to contact me if you want to chat about Harris or life! |

I chose Harris to build on my quantitative strengths and gain new analytic skills to transition my career from health care administration to working in health policy research within government or a university setting. Now that I am at Harris, I’m glad I made the choice to go with this school. My classmates come from diverse professional backgrounds and are all enthusiastic about the difference they will make with their Harris MPP. |

I am interested in policies that offer early forms of support to vulnerable populations. Most recently, I’ve pursued this interest as a researcher at MDRC on a project evaluating curricula in Head Start preschool settings. I was initially drawn to the Harris School because of its unparalleled quantitative training, the diversity of its student body, and its commitment to the city of Chicago. I have not been disappointed: the mathematical core coursework is extremely rigorous, half of the first year class is from outside the United States, and our first charge from Dean Colm during orientation was to “Solve the city of Chicago’s budget crisis”—stay tuned on that one… Feel free to reach out with questions about Chicago, Harris, or anything else! |

As a native Chicagoan moving home after a long stint in D.C. and someone who spent too long thinking she was interested in politics before she discovered policy, I chose the Harris School for the strong analytic skills and extensive network I knew it would provide. I live on the north side of Chicago, and when I'm not doing problem sets I enjoy cooking, finding interesting things to do around the city, and yoga. If you have questions about those or any other aspects of life at Harris or as an MPP student in general, please feel free to contact me! |

I came to the Harris School because I wanted a challenge, I love this city, and I need math in my life. To me, this program is about exploring innovative solutions to policy problems from the confidence of a strong analytical foundation. I am here to get the tools to make real change when I leave with my degree, and have the time of my life while doing it. At Harris I am a writer for the Chicago Policy Review, a co-chair for Team Harris, and a leader of Out in Public Policy. Outside of Harris I sing in a band, play volleyball, volunteer at non-profits around the city, root on my beloved Chicago sports teams (definitely not the Sox), try new restaurants, and do everything I can on the lakefront. |

Chicago is my favorite city since I first visited Chicago in 2009. University of Chicago is a wonderful school with amazing reputation. On top of the reputation and the world-renown education, David Axelrod is starting Institute of Politics in January 2013. It will expose the students to the real political world through speaker series and lectures. I’ve met people that I’ve never dreamt of meeting since I’ve been in Harris. Coming to Harris is a decision I do not regret! |

I realized that if I wanted to further advance my career as a policy advisor in the years to come I needed to strengthen my quantitative toolkit. As a result, after becoming familiar with the graduate programs available, I came to the conclusion that The Harris School has the best combination of faculty and courses for those seeking to build a solid theoretical background as well as firsthand experience with researchers and policy-makers. I also chose the MPP program at Harris because of its diverse student body, with which I have been able to discuss and gain important insights on current issues at the domestic, regional, and global level. Daily contact with students from around the world has allowed me to learn from their experiences with policy and reform. |

Born and raised in Mexico City, I went to College at The University of Chicago and entered the Harris School as part of a dual BA-MPP program. Before entering college, I spent a gap year in Israel taking classes and doing community-service work. My policy area of interest is social policy, with a focus on poverty, human capital and education. I am currently a part-time research assistant for the Center for Human Potential and Public Policy (CHPPP) and a staff writer for the Chicago Policy Review. My hobbies include films, reading and writing, going to music festivals and biking. |

Harris provided me an amazing opportunity to combine my love of Chicago with an academically rigorous policy program. When I am not avoiding STATA errors in the computer lab, I am exploring new restaurants in Chicago or attempting to play water polo again. |

Originally from Toronto, Canada, I have studied, worked, and lived in both France and the United States. My policy interests include labor market institutions, employment policy, and worker migration. I have extensive internal consulting experience with the Government of Canada, where I held progressively senior positions over nine years prior to joining Harris. I chose Harris because of its rigorous core, its emphasis on quantitative analysis, and its international character. |

Coming from an anthropology and human rights background, I felt it was important for me to challenge myself and build quantitative policy analysis skills. Given the Harris School’s great reputation for policy analysis and emphasis on quantitative skills, I felt Harris was the best place to do this. |

I came to the Harris School to obtain the skill set I need to formulate and analyze policy while learning about my specific policy interests. Getting a grounding in topics like microeconomics, statistics, and political economy is invaluable for those seeking to work in the policy sphere, which is why the Harris Programme is so unique. |

I chose Harris for the analytical rigor, the strong ties to Chicago politicians/leaders and the renowned professors. In my free time, I am involved in leadership positions on campus, running Chicago races and community service. |

An assorted random list of reasons why I'm proud to be a Harris student: 1) data nerd is a compliment, not an insult; 2) unlike peer institutions who just surround their graduate students with diplomats and tell them how smart they are, here they actually teach you things (as my colleagues and professors continually remind us; 3) Greek letters will be alive and well in Chicago, no matter what happens to the Euro-zone; and 4) my peers are much smarter and more creative than I am. I came back to grad school because I wanted to transition from international policy to domestic policy, and Harris has given me a myriad of opportunities to explore cutting edge academic research in energy, education, and crime with some of the smartest minds in those fields. After school I hope to return to my hometown of Boston and work in the energy startup industry. Until then, I'm enjoying life in Chicago and cheering for that other Sox team. |

I decided to pursue graduate studies at Chicago Harris to build upon my quantitative skill set and to study policies that effect urban communities. Specifically, I am concentrating on policies that address inequalities through community development, social entrepreneurship and crime prevention. |

I chose Harris because I wanted to study at an institution that challenged me to think more critically about issues surrounding the intersection of government and the private sector. My interests lie in public private partnerships, public investments, and entrepreneurship. |

As an Auditor of Japanese Government, I am pretty confident that Harris gives you a variety of chances to learn highly qualified quantitative and analytical skills. The skill definitely helps you maximize your value in an organization you would belong to through reporting persuasive data in addition to well-organized logical context. In addition, I can guide you in how to practically take advantage of your experience into your work in the future. |
