Don McLellan
Don McLellan is a Senior Principal of BDT. Don is responsible for analyzing transactions and structuring and executing both investments and advisory assignments.
Prior to joining BDT, Don was the Interim Director of the US Department of Treasury’s Capital Purchase Program from October 2008 until January 2009 where he was responsible for Treasury’s equity investments in financial institutions and received a distinguished service award for his contributions to the Troubled Asset Relief Program. Don also has over 18 years of experience in mergers and acquisitions, most recently as Senior Vice President for Mergers and Acquisitions and Strategy for Motorola, Inc. where he led Motorola’s mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures and private equity transactions throughout the world. Prior to joining Motorola in 1996, Don was a corporate attorney with the law firm of Winston & Strawn LLP in Chicago.
He is a member of the New York, Massachusetts and Illinois bars. He is also a council member of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, D.C., a nonpartisan institution of advanced study that promotes scholarship in public affairs, and a board member of Chicago’s Old Town School of Folk Music.
Don received an AB from the University of Chicago in 1987, an AM from its Master of Arts Program in the Social Sciences in 1987 and a JD from its Law School in 1990.

Don and his wife Martina Keller, an immigration attorney in Chicago and 1987 graduate of the University of Chicago as well, live in Lincolnwood, Illinois with their two sons.
