Nicolas Nahas

Professional Bio: 

Nicolas Nahas was appointed Minister of Economy and Trade in the government of Lebanon in June 2011. He is the founder and managing partner of a Lebanese private equity firm which manages buyout and Venture Capital funds focusing on several industries including FMCG, cement, steel tubes, aluminium, and clean energy in Europe and MENA regions.

Mr. Nahas is a board member and general manager of Ciment de Sibline as well as a member of Secil, a leading Portuguese cement group.

For the first ten years of his professional life, Mr. Nahas was with Amiantit, a member of the Swiss Amiantus Group. In his role as head of the construction department Mr. Nahas oversaw the implementation of asbestos cement plants in many Arab countries. This role subsequently allowed him to become the CEO of Amiantit Jordan, a leading pipe manufacturing plant.

Mr. Nahas has played an active role in the economical life of Lebanon in his capacity as vice president of the Lebanese Businessmen Association and member of the board of the Lebanese Industrialists Association.

Mr. Nahas has served as the chief economic counselor to the prime minister of Lebanon, Mr. Najib Mikati.

Educational Bio: 

Mr. Nahas earned a degree in civil engineering from Saint-Joseph University in 1972 and joined the postgraduate ISMP program at Harvard Business School in 1992.
