Miguel Siman
Miguel Simán has been recently appointed vice-president of the board of directors of FUSADES, a private non-profit organization founded in 1983 to promote El Salvador’s economic and social development; one of the most influential think-tanks and research centers in the region.
From 1999 to 2004, Mr. Simán served as the Presidential Commissioner for Public Investment, a ministry level position to oversee and coordinate public sector investment under the presidency of Francisco Flores, while also serving as the President of El Salvador’s Social Investment Fund for Local Development, FISDL; the most important government institution for developing and implementing poverty reduction programs in the country.
Mr. Simán was later appointed El Salvador’s Director to the Central American Bank for Economic Integration, CABEI, from 2005 to 2010.
Furthermore, as the president of the real estate division of Grupo Simán, a diversified privately owned corporation, Mr. Simán has also been involved in the private sector for many years, holding board level positions in different companies, as well as in various private foundations.
Mr. Simán earned his bachelor in Business Administration, with a double concentration in applied economics and management, from Loyola University in New Orleans, Louisiana; and earned his MBA from Harvard Business School, in Boston, Massachusetts.
