James B. Metzger

Professional Bio: 

After leaving Chase Manhattan Bank, James B. Metzger began his international career by helping to represent Spanish companies and government agencies in the United States, becoming vice president of the company which set up the U.S. Agency of Banco de Bilbao and representing Iberia Airlines, Altos Hornos de Vizcaya, Astilleros Espanoles, and various other institutions.

Mr. Metzger became the director of Banco Bilbao in the U.S. and director of the Cayman Island branch. He participated in conferences of the Spain-U.S. Chamber of Commerce relating to facilitating business relationships between both countries. He also represented Sodiga, a business development agency for the Province of Galicia. He has maintained contacts with the Spanish community with involvement and membership in Spain Ten, a group of professionals representing the fields of medicine, business, diplomacy, and academia, interested in issues relating to Spanish and U.S. political and economic matters.

Mr. Metzger held U.S. government positions during the Nixon Administration including assistant director of the Office of Foreign Direct Investments (Commerce Department) and special advisor to the Office of Policy Development (Commerce Department) and O.P.I.C. (business development in Central America). More recently, he participated in the Republican National Committee-Team 100. Mr. Metzger has previously worked on Wall Street, managing pension fund investments at the Chase Manhattan Bank and at Paribas Corp. and Laird, Inc., on foreign and domestic investments.

In recent years, he has managed personal assets and engaged in venture capital, private placements, and market investments.

Mr. Metzger graduated from The Choate School, Cornell University, and Columbia Business School.
