Haroutioun Minas Hasséssian
Dr. Hasséssian integrates science and business. He is the principal architect of the business, as well as the thrust behind NorVision’s growth. A company based in Montréal, Canada, NorVision is addressing unmet needs of the aging population with a pipeline of therapeutics in development for eye diseases and cancer, and a product for skin rejuvenation. Active within the biopharmaceutical industry for more than 22 years, Dr. Hasséssian has acquired experience in different areas of the industry. He has over 21 years of proven managerial experience with teams of knowledge workers. Dr. Hasséssian has counseled the Government of Québec, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), as well as pharmaceutical and finance companies on biopharmaceutical related policy and ophthalmology projects. Through his global network, Dr. Hasséssian has been instrumental in several international projects involving government and corporations. Dr. Hasséssian is the author of 107 research publications in the form of manuscripts, book chapters and reports. He is the author of 16 issued and 2 pending patents. He has made high impact research contributions in ophthalmology, neuroscience, vascular biology and pharmacology. He has been invited to speak 3-6 times a year, in North America and Europe. Dr. Hasséssian has been an active member and has frequently presided over 50 local, national and international committees as well as boards, and has been involved in the organization, evaluation and governing of: business, medical, scientific, educational, governmental and charitable activities.
Dr. Hasséssian earned both his undergraduate degree in Neurobiology, and his Master’s degree in Pharmacology and Therapeutics from McGill University, whereas his Ph.D. in Neuroscience was awarded by the Université de Montréal. Dr. Hasséssian acquired 5 years Post-Doctoral research training in cutting edge laboratories at University College London, Baylor College of Medicine - Houston, and University of Texas - Houston. He has multidisciplinary research training from 17 leading laboratories in North America and Europe. Dr. Hasséssian has obtained extensive and elaborate formal business training, from numerous institutions and companies, among others: Harvard Business School, Queen’s School of Business, Centre for the Study of Drug Development (Tufts University), and the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) Group.
