Frank C. Schell III

Professional Bio: 

Frank Schell is a business strategy consultant. Most recently, he was an independent senior consultant for Charles River Associates, a global consulting firm based in Boston, MA in the strategy practice, involved with financial services companies and major corporations, with focus on value management and enterprise risk management.

Most of his earlier career was in international banking. Mr. Schell was Senior Vice President of the First National Bank of Chicago and its successors. He was engaged in the strategic development of the Bank’s capabilities, strengthening its global network and risk management policies. He was executive sponsor of major IT and systems conversion projects to deploy new technology and mitigate enterprise risk, and he developed and managed joint ventures and global alliances. He was stationed in London in international capital markets and in Sao Paulo, Brazil as country head for the Bank during the debt crisis of the 1980s.

Prior to joining First Chicago in 1981, he was Assistant Treasurer of Ford Aerospace & Communications Corporation, an aerospace and defense contractor wholly-owned by Ford Motor Company, involved with corporate treasury and risk management.

Mr. Schell started his banking career with Continental Bank in the international banking group. He was posted in Nairobi, Kenya and was later involved with institutional and corporate banking in the Middle East and South Asia.

Industry board affiliations included the National Foreign Trade Council, and the Bankers’ Association for Finance and Trade.

More recently, he was President & CEO of Chicago Commons engaged in mission execution, governance and enhancement of its commitment to Chicago. He was also managing director of The PrivateBank, wholly-owned by PrivateBancorp, Inc.

Mr. Schell served in the U.S. Peace Corps in northern India. His essays on global affairs and South Asia have appeared in the Far Eastern Economic Review (Wall Street Journal Digital Network), Chicago Tribune, National Strategy Forum Review, American Spectator, and at Gateway House of Mumbai, India.
