Antonio Cabrales
Antonio Cabrales is the president of the board of directors of Fundación Salvadoreña para el Desarrolla Económica y Social (FUSADES), a private and non-partisan organization created in 1983 to promote the economic and social progress of Salvadorans.
From 1989 to 1994, he was the minister of agriculture under the presidency of Alfredo Cristiani. Mr. Cabrales is also the founding president of SALVANATURA, the Salvadoran Ecological Foundation dedicated to promoting public awareness of preserving native forests. SALVANATURA oversees the largest parks in El Salvador. He has also served as a professor at the National School of Agriculture (1959-1962), sub-director of livestock (1963-1964), vice minister of agriculture (1972), and president of the National Agriculture Fair (1979).
Mr. Cabrales has been involved in livestock production for 40 years. He is also president of Cabrales Meza, S.A., and Teopan, S.A., which are family real estate projects. He has developed Teopan Island, a first-class resort in Lake Coatepeque, for the last 35 years. He is also on the board of directors of five other foundations.
Mr. Cabrales earned his bachelor of science in animal husbandry and minored in dairy science at Delaware Valley College of Science and Agriculture in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.
